Mission Statement: The Rensselaer City Comptroller’s office works to promote the financial health, integrity, and effectiveness of Rensselaer City government, in order to strengthen trust, secure a thriving future for all City of Rensselaer residents, and build a more just, equitable, and resilient city.  The Comptroller’s office provides checks and balances needed to hold City government accountable for budgeting wisely, investing responsibly, operating efficiently, acting fairly, living up to its obligations and promises, and paying attention to the long-term challenges we face together.

 

Responsibilities & Services:  The Comptroller's Office is the administrative arm of the city's financial operation. The department is responsible for maintaining a governmental accounting system that represents accurately, and with full disclosure, the financial operations of the funds and account groups in conformity with the generally accepted accounting principles.

 

The comptroller's primary management responsibilities include:

Accounting

Accounts payable

Financial reporting

Fiscal management

Welcome to the City of Rensselaer Comptroller Department web page.  I am proud to serve the residents of the City of Rensselaer as your Comptroller.  My priorities are focused on creating an atmosphere where fiscal responsibility is a priority.
 
The Comptroller’s department will continue to effectively uphold its responsibility to annually audit over 3200 expense/vendor claims, conduct multiple departmental budget reviews and ensure conformity with the generally accepted accounting principles.
