The City of Rensselaer Police Department Honor Guard was established in 2007. The Honor Guard is responsible for representing the City of Rensselaer Police Department at certain events suchs as parades, community events and funeral services for police officers killed in the line of duty. The Honor Guard wears a different dress uniform and currently has five members. The Honor Guard has represented the Rensselaer Police Department as far away as New York city to pay their respects to a fallen brother police officer. The Honor Guard provides a sharp, crisp, and professional image to the City of Rensselaer Police Department.
Honor Guard deployments are by request under direct order of the Chief of Police only.
