Q: Where do you find city emergency alert info?
A: All emergency alert information such as trash pick-up reminders, annual
water reports, boil water notices, snow emergencies, etc., can be found on the city website, news stations or through the city’s emergency alert notification system introduced October 30, 2013.

Q: How do you sign up for the city emergency alert system?
A: The emergency alert system can be found on the Rensselaer City Homepage
to the left of the “news” column. You will find a link located above the “First Call” emblem which will bring you to the sign up page where you may enter your contact information.

Q: What identification is required to obtain a certificate of residence?
A: For a certificate of residence (Hudson Valley Community College ONLY)
Student must have proof that they reside in the City of Rensselaer and Photo I.D.

-Piece of Mail
-Telephone Bill

Q: What is required to obtain a marriage license?
A: In order to get a marriage license both parties must come to The Clerk’s
office with proof of identity and proof of age.

*If either party was previously married information was be furnished in the application for a marriage license. This includes whether or not the former spouse or spouses are living, and whether the applicants are divorced and, if so, when, where and against whom the divorce or divorces were granted. A certified copy of the Decree of Divorce or a Certificate of Dissolution of Marriage is required by the clerk issuing the marriage license.
