Last day to register to vote: application must be received by the BOE by October 25, 2025 Last day to change address: application must be received by the BOE by October 20, 2025 Last day for board of elections to RECEIVE application or letter of application by mail or online portal for General Election ballot is October 25, 2025 Last day to postmark General Election ballot. Must be received by the county board no later than Nov 12th.

ELECTION LAW UPDATE! Due to NYS Election Law amendments in 2022:
Once an absentee ballot is requested, you will be only able to vote by affidavit at either the early voting locations or the election day polling sites.

BOARD OF ELECTIONS EXTENDED HOURS: The Rensselaer County Board of Elections will be open during all Early Voting hours to accommodate voters who will be out of the county on Primary or Election Day and wish to apply for an absentee ballot.
