EMERGENCY DELARATION - CITY OF RENSSELAER
Mayor DeFrancesco has issued an EMERGENCY DECLARATION FOR the City of Rensselaer due to the heavy rains and the threat of flash flooding, effective immediately, Wednesday July 29, 2026, through 7:00 a.m. on Thursday July 30, 2026, unless it is extended or revoked.
Drivers are urged to avoid all unnecessary travel during the emergency, and check road conditions and closures before traveling.
Please be advised that travel in areas of the City of Rensselaer may be EXTREMELY hazardous with some streets impassable. Please avoid Route 9 & 20 in the vicinity of lower Columbia Turnpike; areas of 6th Street near Hollow Park, and any areas with a creek or stream nearby.
Low lying areas near the Hudson River are likely to be impacted by an unusually high tide.
Do not attempt to drive through pooling water. Turn around, don't drown!
