THERE WILL BE A PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS PARKING RESTRICTIONS AND THE PLACEMENT OF SIGNS AS REQUESTED BY RESIDENTS IN THE FIRST WARD OF THE CITY OF RENSSELAER ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 2025 AT 6:30PM IN THE COURTROOM AT CITY HALL, 62 WASHINGTON STREET, RENSSELAER, NY, 12144. 

WHEREAS, At the Common Council meeting on March 5, 2025, a group of local residents brought their concerns about a Condemned Church performing regularly scheduled food donations, and 
WHEREAS, the residents understand that the food donation event is a good and honorable cause, and 
WHEREAS, unfortunately, the event causes inconveniences to the neighborhood including complaints of stolen property, litter, patrons cutting through resident's properties, using the street as a restroom, lack of access for emergency vehicles and questioning how a condemned building can be used. Pictures and a police report accompanied the comments, and 
WHEREAS, the Common Council is desirous of conducting a Public Hearing to discuss the installation of "NO PARKING-FIRE LANE" sign on the West side of Walker Street between 1 ST Ave and 2N° Ave, and 
replace a faded Stop and Street signs at is 1 ST Ave (see attached), and 
WHEREAS, the Common Council will carefully consider the aforementioned residents' quality of life and safety issues, and 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that a Public Hearing be scheduled for April 2, 2025 at 6:30 pm 
in the Courtroom at City Hall, 62 Washington St., Rensselaer to discuss the installation of said signs. 
Changes Are As Follows: Signs on Walker Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue 

  •     Replacement of faded STOP sign at First Avenue
  •     Replacement of faded Street Sign at First Avenue
  •    NO PARKING - FIRE LANE signs on West side of Walker Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue (4 signs)
