REQUEST FOR RELEASE OF FUNDS
On or about May 31, 2023 the City of Rensselaer will submit a request to the New York State Homes & Community Renewal (HCR) through the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC), for the release of $548,000 in HOME funds under Title II of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act (NAHA) of 1990, in accordance with section 288 (42 U.S.C. 12838), to authorize the City of Rensselaer to undertake a project known as Housing Improvement Program for purposes to rehabilitate 10 deteriorated single family homes occupied by elderly, frail elderly, and disabled residents. Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) funding and energy audits for homeowners with very low income will also be offered, and the City will work with CEO, Inc. to provide WAP funding ($6,500 per house) for up to 4 homes that are also eligible for HOME assistance. The estimated total project cost is $576,000.
