South Street in the City of Rensselaer will be closing between the intersections of Aiken Avenue and Second Avenue to all public traffic effective 7:00 AM on Monday, March 23, 2026, for the duration of the South Street Bridge Replacement over Mill Creek and Pedestrian Improvements, PIN 1761.75, BIN 2202200, D040078 construction project.
This federally funded construction project will replace the existing bridge and reconstruct the roadway between Aiken Avenue and Second Avenue, including the addition of a new full-length sidewalk for pedestrians between Second Avenue and Aiken Avenue.
Detour routes will be posted by March 23, 2026, with signs for the advanced notice already installed as of March 2, 2026. The project is expected to be completed by Fall 2026.
