THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL CITY OF RENSSELAER COMMON COUNCIL  MEETING ON MONDAY, JULY 29, 2024 AT 6:30PM IN THE FIRST FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM OF CITY HALL, 62 WASHINGTON ST., RENSSELAER, NY.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SPECIAL MEETING WILL BE TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING, CONSIDER UNION CONTRACT, POSSIBLE BUDGET RESOLUTION AND OTHER CITY BUSINESS AS DEEMED NECESSARY.

PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION:

Notice of Public Hearing  City of Rensselaer

The City of Rensselaer will hold a public hearing on July 29, 2024 at 6:30PM at Rensselaer City Hall for the purpose of hearing public comments on the City of Rensselaer’s community development needs, and to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2024 program year. The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR) and in 2024 will make available to eligible local governments approximately:

$15 million for Housing Activities related to Infrastructure in Support of Existing Housing

The City of Rensselaer is applying for 2024 CDBG funding as follows:

Up to $1.5 million for Housing Activities related to Infrastructure in Support of Existing Housing (targeted replacement of lead water supply laterals and plumbing in homes occupied by low- and moderate- income households in Census Block Groups 516.1 and 516.2). 

The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program, including progress towards beneficiary goals and program objectives, and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
